Dream - Utilize - Connect - Knowledge - Succeed
Ducks provides a range of experiential education opportunities to gain leadership skills through four areas:
- Leadership Institute
- Wood Ducks in the Wild
- Low Ropes Course (temporarily unavailable due to COVID-19)
- Leadership Library
DUCKS Leadership Institute
Each semester we offer a workshop series in which participants explore their own leadership styles as they interact with a diverse and ever-changing world. Graduates receive participation certificates and will be recognized for their involvement. Visit the Leadership Institute page for more information.
The Leadership Institute is expected to be held online for the 2022-2023 academic year. For questions or concerns, please contact studentlife@century.edu.
Wood Ducks in the Wild
Wood Ducks in the Wild aims to help students explore leadership skills, personal growth, and social awareness. Students will better develop a sense of self-confidence while fostering sensitivity toward the environment, and grow into sustainable citizens. Visit the Wood Ducks in the Wild page for more information!

DUCKS Low Rope Course (temporarily unavailable due to COVID-19)
With engaging and exciting program, our initiatives provide experiential learning opportunities for our students and employees.
A trained facilitator tailors specific activities to your group or program, which may include icebreakers, problem-solving, communication, low-ropes challenges, and conflict resolution.
This program also utilizes the woods on the south side of West Campus. Some of the activities are permanent; others will be set up using the natural surroundings.
DUCKS Leadership is offered for classes, departments, clubs, and programs for an hour time frame for a whole day. We create opportunities to develop student and employee leadership.
Leadership Library
We have developed a library for students to utilize develop their leadership skills individually or in group situations, and include many icebreakers and activities to help initiate group interaction.
The Leadership Library is located in the Club Center, W1210. Please contact Student Life to arrange a time to pick up/drop off physical materials or for digital materials.

I think it is a great program because thanks to all these activities, I have achieved many goals in my life and I have met great people that have changed my life as well. I have always had great experiences but most importantly thanks to this program I have the opportunity to continue with my education at Century.”
Jenna said “Wood Ducks in the Wild is such an amazing program! I knew nothing about camping or the outdoors when I signed up for the trip to Itasca State Park last summer. After one night sleeping under the stars, I was hooked! Now, I can’t wait to get outside and explore as often as I can. Wood Ducks in the Wild gave me the valuable hands-on experience I needed to get out and plan my own adventures. I’ve had such a great time learning and I’ve made some awesome friends too!”
Faculty Testimonials
Anna said “We have partnered with the team from Ducks Leadership for the past four semesters to encourage team building in our nursing clinical groups. Not only has it been tons of fun but students get to know each other and their instructors right at the start of the semester. It’s really helped teams get along and work well together at clinical.”
