Starfish - Your Success Network

The primary focus of Starfish is to help all Century College students achieve their goals. Starfish is a way for faculty and staff to give you feedback about your progress at the college and to help you connect with resources on campus. This communication system makes it easier for us to connect you with resources to promote your success.

The Student Intake form in Starfish is a series of questions designed to help the college get to know you and your interests and needs. The information you provide on the intake form will help your assigned advisor and counselor connect you with resources and support networks to help you succeed. Students can complete or change their responses on the intake form at any point to provide your success network with updated information. Follow the steps on this helpful guide to get started. Completing the form is easy and should take only 10 minutes or less. 

Flags are raised by faculty at any time throughout the course, to communicate a concern related to academic progress. Students receive an e-mail once the flag has been raised, and the email typically includes faculty comments. Your assigned Academic Advisor and Counselor are made aware of the flag, as well so they can help support your success.

Referrals are a way for faculty and staff to guide a student to a specific office or to access a specific resource. Referrals are more supportive than just telling a student they should visit a particular office because they generate an email that tells the student how to connect with that office. Additionally, once the referral has been raised, a staff member from the referral area will attempt to connect with the student.

Kudos are a way faculty and staff to express positive feedback to students. Students may be told, from faculty, to Keep Up the Good Work, or they may say you are Showing Improvement. Students will be notified via e-mail and will see kudos highlighted on their front page of Starfish when they enter the system.

Flags and Referrals alert you that you need to take some action. Contact your instructor about course related items (you can find their contact information in the My Courses portion of your Starfish Student Profile). If you receive a referral, contact the person or department that sent the referral.

Once you have completed the orientation process, new Century students are encouraged to schedule an appointment with your Registration Advisor. Your Registration Advisor will review your program and course information, help you register and answer questions you have about your first semester at Century.
