Concurrent Enrollment courses are offered at high schools and are taught by high school teachers with required credentials, who are mentored by Century College faculty members. Concurrent Enrollment courses are permitted for high school students seeking both high school and college credit. This program allows students the opportunity to experience the academic rigor of the college curriculum and strengthen their study skills in a high school environment. Concurrent Enrollment is like Postsecondary Enrollment Options (PSEO), allowing students to take college courses on Century College’s campus.

Concurrent Enrollment courses are sometimes referred to as dual credit, dual enrollment, or college in the schools. Additional background is available at the Minnesota Department of Education and National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships.

Student Resources

Century in the High School’s concurrent enrollment program provides college-level educational opportunities to high school students. Concurrent enrollment courses enroll High school students who may earn both high school and college credit for a satisfactorily completed course. Benefits for students include:

  • Experience with college-level coursework
  • Earn highly-transferable college credits
  • Ability to demonstrate learning over a semester, in a familiar environment, and not on a single test

Resources for Educators

The Century in the High School program is in a growth phase and has expanded to serve multiple Partner High Schools and provide college credits in eight disciplines (see below). Benefits for teachers and high schools include:

  • Attract and retain an academically strong student body
  • Access to resources provided by higher education institutions
  • Strengthen high school academic departments
  • Professional development for teachers
  • Increase public awareness of community partnerships and quality standards

The information below is intended to give educators (teachers, administrators, and/or staff) an overview of some of the key points in becoming a part of our learning community. The Guide Book is your primary reference for more information, forms, policies, and more.
