The Century Bundle FAQs

• Register for your classes, and the bookstore will start preparing your course materials.

• One month before classes start, you will receive a verification email sent to your Century College Student email instructing you to select your delivery preference (in-store pickup or shipped directly to you). This email will also list the available format(s) for materials required for your class, such as digital or hard-copy books.

• An email will be sent to your Century College Student Email account when your order is ready for pickup or when it ships.

• Your digital materials will be delivered for your course(s) within D2L Brightspace.

• Each semester, students will review and approve their materials and delivery of items, and will have the choice to opt out of The Century Bundle program.

The program provides eligible students with all required textbooks, access codes, and digital materials on a rental basis.

When a student receives the selection email 30 days before the start of the term, the email will verify their course schedule and list if the material is a physical item or digital item delivered through the D2L Brightspace.

The program does not include items intended for one-time use that cannot be returned and reused; some examples include lab goggles, art supplies, cosmetology kits, and automotive service technology tool kits. If your lab credits require a kit, you need to purchase any lab kit items separately. For Fall Semester 2025, starting on July 28, review your classes at the online bookstore - Course Books & Materials to see what is excluded from The Century Bundle.

Courses with Open Education Resources (OER) materials are excluded from the cost of The Century Bundle program and will not appear in the Student Portal. You can review OER course materials through the Course Materials Concierge in the Online Bookstore website. OER course materials are provided at no cost for students. 

Programs and courses that use Cengage Unlimited will be excluded from the program. Excluded courses are in the following subjects: Auto Body Technology (ABT), Automotive Service Technology (AST), Computer Application Technology (CAPL), Dental Assistant (DENA), Office Technology (OFFT), and Welding (WLDG).

All students will be automatically enrolled in The Century Bundle program.

Fully online students who participate in The Century Bundle will get a one-time (per semester) free shipping on their first order. Students will be responsible for covering the costs of any additional shipping of online purchases through the bookstore. Fully online students who are selecting shipping to home will also get a one-time return label for shipping the materials back to the bookstore.

Students who opt out of The Century Bundle program will be responsible for all shipping costs.

All enrolled PSEO students will be automatically enrolled in The Century Bundle program. Students are not responsible for the $25 per credit hour fees. 

PSEO students must participate in The Century Bundle. Please do NOT opt out.

When you log on to the student portal and verify your order, PSEO students must select “Pick up at the bookstore.” This also means you are responsible for returning your rented textbooks back to the bookstore on campus in person.

Students enrolled in multiple Minnesota State institutions may have a different email address for each. You will need to change your primary email address to @my.century.edu to access the Century Bundle Student Portal.

Steps to Update Your StarID Email Address:

1. Go to starid.minnstate.edu: Access the StarID Self Service portal.
2. Sign in: Use your StarID and password to log in.
3. Access Profile: Once logged in, find and select the option to manage your profile.
4. Locate and Update your Email Contact Information: Under the first tab we recommend updating your StarID Notification email address to your Century College student email account ending in ‘@my.century.edu.’ Then select the second tab at the top titled, ‘Office 365 Contact.’ Under this section update/ or review your ‘Primary Email’ address to make sure it’s your Century College student account. A button to ‘Change your Information’ will appear with a populated drop down list including your email address to choose from.
5. Save Changes: Ensure you save or submit the updated information.
6. Revert Changes: If you wish to switch back to your primary institution account, you will need to back in and update it.

Please allow a minimum of two, and up to 24 hours for your email update to sync with The Century Bundle Student Portal.

The Century Bundle program will cost $25 per credit hour for the academic year 2025-2026.

For example, course materials for students taking 12 credits per semester would cost $300 per semester. Based on their course selection, students could save between 35% and 50% each term.

The Century Bundle fees will be listed in your student account.

Financial Aid can be used towards covering the cost of The Century Bundle. Please see the Financial Aid-related FAQ page for more information.

For information regarding your student account balance, please log in to eServices.

If you have questions regarding your bill, please contact the Century College Business Office at busoffice@century.edu.

You will make the payment according to the balance due as of the payment deadline.

If a student opts out, a credit will be applied to your account. Please contact the Business Office for more information by email Business Office or phone 651-444-2070.

Students will receive emails and phone calls from the bookstore to remind them to verify their order. If the student does not opt-out, rental materials will be held at the bookstore, digital materials will be accessible within the D2L Brightspace, and the student’s account will be charged.

Yes, if the student does not opt out, their materials will be held at the bookstore, and their student account will be charged.

Yes, if you withdraw from a course after the part of the session’s Add/Drop deadline, you will be charged for the materials associated with that course. If you drop the course prior to the deadline, you will receive credit for the materials associated with that course.

In the event that you add another course during the Add/Drop period, or if you exchange a course in a class that starts late in the semester or ends early, such as a Session II or Session III, you will be charged for all newly registered credit hours.

Information regarding all term deadlines, including the Add/Drop period and fee due dates for each part of the semester, can be found on the Century College Tuition Payment page.

If you drop a class, and it ultimately results in a credit to your student account, refund processing is done every week after the first disbursement of financial aid for each part of the semester.

Review the Need-to-Know Information to understand adding, dropping, and withdrawing from a course.

Students should see the changes in The Century Bundle course materials list to verify within 24 hours of adding or dropping a course. Check your Century College Student email for updates, and remember, the link to verify course materials and select the delivery preference is only active at select times each term.

You can view your course schedule in eServices, which will list the credit hours for each course. Remember, the program only applies to credit-hour courses and not to individualized studies or non-credit continuing education courses.

Step 1: Logging In

• Visit the Century College Bookstore homepage or go directly to the Online Bookstore from the left-side navigation.
• Sign In at the top right corner, and choose the Sign In with School Login option.
  You should be automatically signed in with Single Sign-On.

Note:

If you’re not automatically logged in through Single Sign-On, enter your StarID@go.minnstate.edu email and your starID password.
Please contact the Bookstore on campus to get help with your login.

Step 2: Searching for Course Materials

Once logged in, scroll down your personalized course materials page to Course Materials Concierge or Course Finder then select Search Now.

Search for your courses using:

• Term – choosing your term listed by semester, year or OPT OUT.
  Selecting the listing of term and year will show you what’s included materials (textbooks) and excluded materials (lab kits, office supplies, etc.) from The Century Bundle.
  Selecting the term and year with OPT OUT will show you all included and excluded recommended course items at full price and will not indic. With this opt out option you will be able to compare costs if you plan to opt out of the Bundle.
• Department is referred to as Subject in eServices.
• Course Number and Section Number are also found in eServices in the Course Search or View My Plan options.

For example:

Each individual course and section may have different course material availability.

In this example, the search results:

For Biology — There are the course materials that are included in The Century Bundle and a lab kit that is not included in The Century Bundle.
For Economics — These are the course materials that are included in the Century Bundle.
For Sociology — This course uses O.E.R., or Open Educational Resources.

Let’s begin a new search…
Start by clearing the previous selections.

Now we’ll take a quick look at comparing what the recommended course materials and costs are.
for students using The Century Bundle program versus those who opt out and decide to purchase their course materials on their own.

For Biology — again noting the lab kit is excluded from The Century Bundle when compared to Fall 2025 pricing.
For this comparison take into consideration the full pricing structure offered by Barnes & Noble for course materials. Add all required course materials needed for the semester and compare against the $25/ credit course fee.

For example:

• If you are taking 10 credits The Century Bundle will cost $250
• If you are taking 15 credits The Century Bundle will cost $375
• If after adding the full price for all required course materials and lab kits for the semester is more than the cost of $25/ registered credit then we recommend staying opted into The Century Bundle.
• Take time to review and verify your course materials to ensure they match your class requirements.
• For an easier and accurate price comparison you can also log into the Student Portal and view your estimated Bundle cost savings.

Step 3: Choosing Payment Options

Using Personal Funds:

Choose “Pay with Credit/Debit” and enter your payment details.
Your card will be charged immediately for the full amount of your order.

Using Financial Aid:

At checkout, select “Use Financial Aid” as your payment option.
Ensure your financial aid has been processed… and is available.
Remember — financial aid covers required textbooks, lab kits, and course materials…
but may not include optional items like apparel.

Step 4: Fulfillment Options

Next, choose how you want to receive your materials:

• Students taking fully online courses should have them shipped directly to you.
• Students taking in-person classes should pick them up at the bookstore on West Campus.

Step 5: Reviewing Your Order

Before completing your order:

• Double-check the items in your cart.
• Review your shipping method and payment option.
• Make sure you’ve selected the correct payment type — financial aid or personal funds.

Step 6: Completing the Purchase

Once everything looks good — select “Checkout” to complete your transaction. You’ll receive a confirmation email with the details of your purchase.

Step 7: Accessing Your Materials

Digital materials will be available in D2L Brightspace by the first day of class. Physical textbooks will be shipped or ready for pickup depending on your chosen preference.

Yes, the program provides you with the option to purchase the rented textbooks at a reduced rate during the return period.

Yes, normal use of highlighting and writing is permitted in your rental materials. Missing pages, water damage, a broken spine, or excessive writing or highlighting in the book are considered not acceptable.

The deadline to return all rental textbooks is the last day of finals for the semester. Students will receive email reminders ahead of the rental deadline.

The deadline to return textbook rentals for Fall Session 2025 is December 12, 2025.

Barnes and Noble will send reminder emails to the student’s Century College email account leading up to the rental return period and will monitor the return of books and keep the College apprised. If books are not returned there will be a hold placed on the student’s eServices account until the books are returned.

If you have already received your materials before you dropped the course, you may simply return the book to the Bookstore within 48 hours. (The 48-hour period is calculated based on days when the Bookstore is open). If you drop a class and enroll in a different class, the bookstore will “swap” the required rented textbooks or access codes to ensure that you have what you need for your current course schedule.

If a course is added, you will receive an email to your student email instructing you to confirm your schedule change and select your delivery preference (in-store pickup or shipped directly to you). The email will be from notification@materials.bncollege.com. An email notification will be sent when your order is ready for pickup or when it ships.

If you drop a class, return the materials by the deadline, and it ultimately results in a credit on your student account, refund processing is every week after the first disbursement for financial aid for each part of term.

Students who register at one time for classes in multiple parts of the semester can pick up all rented physical textbooks at the same time unless a course in a shorter session is added later.

All rented digital materials for shorter sessions that begin after the full-term start date will be available in the D2L Brightspace when the shorter-term class starts.

The Century College Bookstore works directly with the faculty who submit their required course materials for the courses they are facilitating.
