Planning for Your Program
Cost & Financial Aid
-
As a two-year public community and technical college, Century College receives funding from the State of Minnesota, keeping tuition rates significantly lower than private colleges and universities. With affordable tuition rates and financial aid and scholarship opportunities, our students avoid student loan debt.
Financial Aid
Century College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, and our programs qualify for financial aid including grants, loans, and college work-study. Eligibility for financial aid is determined annually based on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Century College’s Federal School Code is 010546.
Scholarship Opportunities
Each year, the Century College Foundation awards more than $300,000 in scholarships to our students. Students are encouraged to create an account and apply for scholarships online.

- Experience:Alicia Andre has been teaching English, Reading, and English to Speakers of Other Languages for more than 23 years at the Community Colleges in Minnesota. She has been teaching full-time in Century’s ESOL Department for the past five years. Before coming to Century College, she taught at Minneapolis Community College (MCTC) for 18 years. She teaches all courses: reading, writing, listening and speaking, and pronunciation.Teaching Approach:For me, teaching involves a collaboration between the teacher and students. I believe that teachers are responsible for planning interesting and engaging content that keeps students informed and challenged. I like to give students a lot of independence and try to encourage them to actively participate in class. I think of myself more as a coach. I believe that my job as an instructor is to provide the following: an environment that is conducive to learning; knowledge that will help students be successful in achieving their academic goals; materials, opportunities, and feedback that will motivate students to learn, and help them to be successful in their studies and professional life.Education:A B.S. degree from the University of Minnesota in Technical Communications (1998), and an M.A. degree from San Francisco State University in English and English to Speakers of Other Languages.Notable:Alicia has acted as department chair at Minneapolis Community and Technical College. She has received two Teaching Excellence awards in the development of hybrid courses in listening, speaking and pronunciation. She assisted in the development of a college.Hobbies:Tennis, movies, travel, and baking bread.Alicia AndreFacultyBioESOL651-444-3332
