The Fall 2023 application will be open for applicants from October 17, 2022 – December 05, 2022 and will close at 11:59pm.

All transcripts are due by the application deadline of December 5th with the exception of classes currently in-progress(IP) fall semester 2022, the deadline for those transcripts is extended to December 30th, 2022 so your fall grades can be included (Order the transcript after the fall grades are posted at your college and be sure we get them by the extended deadline!). We will pull all MinnState affiliated transcripts.

ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS

Students seeking any exception to the admission criteria should consult the Century College catalog for petitioning instructions or their Advisor.

1. High School Transcripts – Applicant must have graduated from an accredited high school or the equivalent (GED certificate in USA). You must order the official transcript to be sent directly from the high school or evaluator to Century College Admissions admissions@century.edu or mailed by US Mail by the application deadline. Copies emailed or submitted by the student will be rejected.

• High School transcripts from outside of the United States need to be translated and evaluated by W.E.S. https://www.wes.org/ or E.C.E. https://www.ece.org/ Plan on 6 weeks for them to arrive at Century by the application deadline. For speed, they should be emailed directly from the evaluator to admissions@century.edu, any copy emailed from the student will be rejected.

2. TRANSCRIPTS: College/University/Tech. School - all vocational/college/university official transcripts from each institution must be sent to transfer@century.edu Century College TSS/Transfer Services Office directly from the sending institution/agency. We will pull all Minnesota State System Colleges/Universities and Century College transcripts.

• All transcripts are due by the application deadline of December 5 ^th.

• Foreign transcripts must be evaluated by World Education Service (W.E.S.) info@wes.org or call 212.966.6311. or E.C.E. https://www.ece.org/. Evaluated/translated transcripts must be here by the application deadline. Transfer of specific foreign courses must be individually petitioned. Please contact the Advising and Counseling Center for assistance.

3. Credit and GPA Requirement - Applicant must have completed a minimum of 14 semester college-level credits from the Century College Minnesota General Education Transfer Curriculum (MnTC) course list, or transfer courses evaluated as MnTC, with a cumulative grade point average in all MnTC credits of a 2.50 or greater. See the Century website, or the Advising and Counseling Center for the list of eligible courses. The following types of credits will NOT be calculated in the MnTC GPA: other types of credits including but not limited to, occupational curriculum, career development, English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), reading study skills, pass/fail, computer skills, and physical education. The grade-point average requirement also applies to all coursework taken during the fall semester of the application deadline. A minimum of a C grade is required in every science course for the Associate of Applied Science Degree in Radiologic Technology.

• Students who do not have a cumulative GPA requirement of 2.50 may petition for admission consideration based on applicable MnTC courses taken within the past three years. Requests for exception to the GPA requirement must be submitted prior to the application deadline. A Counselor/Advisor or Admissions Advisor should be consulted when submitting an exception request.
• If your request for exception is approved, all applicable college courses taken in the past three years will be included in the calculation of the cumulative GPA. Applicants must have completed at least 14 MnTC credits within these three years.
• Completion of credits must be completed by the transcript deadline.
• All candidates/applicants must be in good academic and financial standing at the time of application deadline and up to the start of the program. This includes suspension and financial holds at all Minnesota State institutions.

4. Science Requirement - Completion with a grade of C or better in both a 3 (or more) semester-credit college-level Human Biology (Century College BIOL 1024- Human Biology) or transfer equivalent and a 4 (or more) semester-credit college-level general Physics (Century College PHYS 1020- Physics Concepts) or transfer equivalent. Transfer equivalents must include a laboratory section.

5. Basic Skills Requirement -

• Reading and English Course Placement at college level.
• Math Placement in MATH 0070 or above, or completion of MATH 0030 with a grade of “C” or higher.
  • If the student does not have a college-level math placement, they must complete MATH 0070 prior to the start of the Rad Tech program.
• If previous placement does not meet the application requirements, applicant needs to retake placement OR complete required developmental/remedial courses, as indicated by the fall semester of the application deadline.

6. ENGLISH 1021 - All Century students must have completed English 1021 with a grade of C or better to qualify for graduation from the program. Note (this does not need to be done to apply to the program)

 

APPLICATION STEPS

1. General Admission to Century College Individuals that have not previously applied to the College are required to submit a Century College General Admission Application one day prior to the Radiologic Technology Application. Note: The Radiologic Technology Application does not admit you to Century College.

2. Radiologic Technology Application - Submit the online Century College Radiologic Technology Program by the deadline. See Application Deadline Tab on webpage for application link. Applications that are not submitted by the deadline will not be considered and you will need to apply to the next application deadline in December 2023.

3. COURSE PLACEMENT - Complete the course placement process for Reading and Math, and all developmental courses required.

4. Transcripts - Submit official transcripts from high school and all vocational, college and university institutions previously attended. It is the student’s responsibility to make sure all transcripts are received by the transcript deadlines Transcripts received after the transcript deadlines will not be considered, making the applicant ineligible for admission.

 

SELECTION PROCESS

Admission to the Radiologic Technology (Rad Tech) program is highly competitive, and the college may not be able to accept all applicants who meet the minimum admission requirements. Applicants who meet the admission requirements will be ranked and selected using a point system which includes the following:

• Academic Achievement on Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MnTC) Program Requirements (14 + credits)
• Academic Achievement on Overall MnTC GPA
• Prerequisite Achievement for Biology / Physics
• Previous Degree (Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree with a GPA of 2.75 or higher at graduation)
• Previous alternate on the waitlist last application cycle

1. SELECTION STATUS NOTIFICATION DATE - After evaluation, you will then receive an email indicating your selection status on January 20, 2023. Send any email changes to RadTechAPP@Century.edu

2. SELECTION - All applications are reviewed, evaluated, and ranked, based on overall academics, grades in specific courses and additional criteria, if necessary.

• Admit Offer Based on ranking; the top 50 applicants will be offered admission to the program.
• Waitlist Offer The next 30 applicants will be placed on a wait list. If you are on the waitlist and not Admitted that application cycle you will need to apply for the next application cycle.
• Not Admitted Any other qualified applicants will not be admitted and will need to reapply the next cycle.
• Denied Sometimes applicants are denied due for not meeting all the requirements and qualifications. We urge you to see your advisor on steps to achieve success and reapply for the next application.

3. ADMISSION OFFER ACCEPTANCE AGREEMENT - Applicants offered admission to the Radiologic Technology Program must click the link in the email offer and complete the acceptance agreement form by the deadline in the email.

• Mandatory Orientation Upon acceptance to the Radiologic Technology Program, all students will be required to attend a Mandatory orientation meeting in May/June 2023. Admitted students will receive notice of the date, time, and place of the orientation meeting. Failure to attend the orientation meeting will result in a student forfeiting their admission to the Radiologic Technology Program.

4. WAITLIST OFFER ACCEPTANCE - If selected for the waitlist, you must click the link in the waitlist email offer and complete the waitlist acceptance.

5. DECLINE OFFER/DROP OUT - Any applicant who has been admitted to the Radiologic Technology program twice, but did not accept, or was dropped by the institution, or withdrew their candidacy either before the start or during the program will be required to wait 5 years before being eligible to apply again.

• Students previously enrolled in a Radiologic Technology Program who were either dismissed/withdrew/or failed, are required to declare that to the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) prior to taking the national certification examination.
• Students must earn a minimum grade of C in the science admission requirements and in all Radiologic Technology courses. Students must also meet and maintain the 2.50 cumulative GPA requirements for all course work done while in the program.
• Students must have all MnTC/General Education course requirements for the AAS in Radiologic Technology Degree completed to be eligible to take the ARRT National Certification Exam.

Background Study

Minnesota Department of Health requires any individual having contact with patients to pass the Minnesota Human Services background study with no restrictions prior to starting the clinical experience. An individual may be disqualified from having patient contact and would not be permitted to participate in the clinical experience. Call MN Department of Human Services with specific questions, 651.431.2000. Ethical issues should be addressed by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

PREVIOUS CONVICTIONS: Individuals having previous convictions involving moral turpitude may be denied eligibility to write the national certification examination administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT). It is strongly suggested that students having concerns about their eligibility to write the examination contact the ARRT at 651.687.0048 or review the Ethics Review Pre-Application Packet found at www.arrt.org

COMPUTERS AND INTERNET ACCESS: Because most Radiologic Technology courses have an online component, students are required to have access to the internet. Access is available on campus. Strong computer skills are required. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure their off-campus device meets the requirements of the College’s online learning management system. There are two on-campus computer labs for students requiring computer access for completion of program assignments. Completion of CAPL 1010-Intro to Software Applications or CSCI 1020 Intro to the PC and Information Systems is strongly recommended.

HEALTH HISTORY / PHYSICAL / CPR:
1. Students are required to have a physical with documentation of standard immunizations and evaluation of the program’s technical standards prior to the beginning of fall semester. A Physical Exam Form will be provided during the Radiologic Technology Program’s orientation meeting. Students can have no uncorrectable hearing or vision problems and must be able to physically lift 40 pounds of dead weight.
2. Certification in CPR, such as the American Heart Association Basic Life Support for the Health Care Provider or the Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer, is required by at the Rad Tech Orientation the summer before fall classes begin. Your CPR certification must be valid through your entire time in the program. Century College offers a comparable course (EMS 1010), as do many other colleges, hospitals, local school districts, and nonprofit organizations. If you have a current CPR certification, you must re-certify so that you have current certification through your entire time in the program.
