A StarID is a unique username assigned to you as soon as you are accepted into Century College, or any other Minnesota State college. Every StarID is a set of 8 numbers and letters that you will use to login to most Century College services, including your college email, campus WiFi, and D2L Brightspace.

Your StarID will look like this: ab1234cd.

When you get your StarID, make sure you write it down so you can keep track of it easily!

Activate my StarID

To start using your StarID to login to campus services, you will need to activate it from MinnState’s StarID Self Service.

Method 1: With Personal Email Address

If you know and can access your personal email address on file with Century College, use this method.

1. Go to StarID Self Service.
2. Click I Know My Email Address.
3. Enter the personal email address on file at Century. A case-sensitive verification code will be sent to this email.
4. Enter the verification code emailed to you in the field.
5. Read the password requirements. Then create your password, making sure it meets the requirements.
6. Check the Acknowledgement box regarding Acceptable Use of Computers.
7. Click Set Password.

Method 2: With Your TechID

If you know your eight-digit Tech ID:

1. Go to StarID Self Service.
2. Click I Know My Tech ID.
3. Enter your tech ID. Then select Century College from the dropdown menu. Click
4. Enter your Social Security Number (no dashes). Then click Continue.
5. Read the password requirements. Then create your password, making sure it meets the requirements.
6. Check the Acknowledgement box regarding Acceptable Use of Computers.
7. Click Set Password.

You will need to be able to access your college email regularly to communicate with your instructors and advisors and follow important college updates.

When you login to your college email for the first time, you will be prompted to set up multifactor authentication (MFA), or two-factor authentication, for your college email account. MFA requires you to use a phone or smartdevice to verify your identify, in addition to entering your password. You might already have MFA set up for your bank, healthcare, or Amazon account.

For best results, we recommend using a phone and a computer to complete authentication set up. If you don’t have access to either a smart device OR a text- or voice-capable phone, please visit a Student Help Specialist at the Library (E1800) or the West Computer Lab (W3165)

Login to your college email

1. On the Century website, click Login in the top right corner.
2. Select Century Email.
3. Under Username, enter YourStarID@go.minnstate.edu (ex: ab1234cd@go.minnstate.edu)
4. Then, enter your StarID password.
5. You will see a prompt for More Information Required. This is the prompt to set up multifactor authentication. Click Next.

You have two options you can use for authenticating: 1) the Microsoft Authenticator app (recommended for smartphones or tablets) or 2) a phone that can receive texts or phone calls.

Set Up Multifactor Authentication

When you next access your college email account, you will login and be prompted to authenticate with your chosen method.

At Century, we highly recommend connecting to our secure network Eduroam for improved security and connection, but if you are new and trying to connect, or a campus visitor or guest, you can use Century Guest WiFi.

Connect to Eduroam

Laptops

1. Click on the Wi-Fi icon on your laptop’s desktop task bar. Select Eduroam.
2. Click the Connect button.
3. Enter the following for credentials:
   Username: StarID@go.minnstate.edu, Password: StarID password
4. Then click OK.
5. If prompted to accept a security certificate, click Connect.

iPhones or iPads

1. On your device, select Eduroam from the list of available Wi-Fi networks.
2. Enter YourStarID@go.minnstate.edu as your username and your StarID password as the password.
3. You may be prompted to accept a security certificate. If so, tap Trust to accept.

Androids

1. Open Google Play and download and install the Eduroam CAT application.
2. Then, open a web browser on your phone or tablet. Navigate to the Eduroam installer website and select Click Here to Download your Eduroam Installer.
3. The website should auto-discover Minnesota State Colleges and Universities. Tap it. If not, then search for it.
4. A button with your phone/tablet operating system will appear. Click it.
5. Then, tap Continue.
6. The configuration file will begin downloading. Tap Open.
7. The Configuration File Summary will open. At the bottom, select Install.
8. You will see another pop-up. Click Yes at the bottom.
9. Eduroam CAT should open. Enter StarID@go.minnstate.edu and your StarID password when prompted.
10. You should now be connected to Eduroam.

Century Guest WiFI

If you are a Century guest or visitor and need access to WiFi, you can create a guest WiFi account. If that account is not active for three months, it will be deleted.

If you are a current Century student, we recommend connecting to Eduroam with the above instructions instead.

1. Navigate to the form to create a Century Guest Account.
2. Fill out the required information and click Next.
3. Create a username and password. Enter them where required.
4. Create a security question and enter your security answer.
5. Check the statements and click Create Account.
6. When connecting to the Century Guest WiFi, enter the username and password you just created.

StarID passwords expire automatically every 180 days, approximately six months. This is to maintain security for your account. You will receive a notification to change your StarID password to your email 21 days, 7 days, and 1 day before your password expires. Century IT highly recommends that you change your StarID password before it expires—if you wait, you may have difficulty accessing your account while resetting your password. 

Important Reminder: After you set up your new password, you will need to re-login and reauthenticate with multifactor authentication to your email. If you access your Century email on multiple devices, you will be prompted to login again on each device. 

Change your Password When you Know your Password

Use this option to change your password before it has expired.

1. Go to StarID Self Service
2. Click Sign in to Profile.
3. Enter your StarID and your current StarID password.
4. Click Change StarID password.
5. Enter your old password, your new password, and your new password again in the text fields indicated.
6. Check the box to acknowledge the Acceptable Use of Computers policy.
7. Click Save Password.

Change your Password when you Don’t Know your Password

Use this option to change your password after it has expired, or if you have forgotten your password.

1. Go to StarID Self Service
2. Click Reset Password.
3. Select one of the following options (i.e. “I know my Tech ID” or “I know my personal email address”)
4. Enter the appropriate information and then set your password.

Starfish provides you with a central location to connect to faculty, advisors and support services that can help you finish what you start. Follow the easy steps below to get started.

First, you will login to the internal college website MyCentury.

1. On the Century public site, click Login in the top right corner.
2. Enter your StarID and StarID password if prompted.
3. Click the Starfish icon on the homepage.
4. Enter your StarID and StarID password.

Congratulations! You are now logged into Starfish!

Enrolled Century students are assigned both an academic advisor and a personal and career counselor. You can find your advisor by clicking the three horizontal lines at the top left and then selecting My Student Success Network.
